Phenotyping in Hard Red Spring Wheat Breeding Research by North Dakota State University

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

"Hard Red Spring Wheat is an important class of wheat grown all over the world. The rise of population requires increasing food production, especially wheat. A key solution is to improve breeding efficiency by reducing time and the number of genotypes to be tested.".

North Dakota State University used the Vibe QM3 Grain Analyzer to understand differences among and between populations of Hard Red Spring Wheat. This could improve genetic gain in two ways, by both improving selection accuracy and decreasing the time required to develop new lines.
